Kalidasa’s masterpiece “Shakuntala” was secluded by Britishers from being used by the Indians; reason being they thought Indians to be incompetent to comprehend it’s meaning! — — This is why one must take pride in one’s cultural as well as literal heritage as because by being too liberal we give others too much power to overshadow or nullify your presence! In the words of Adolf Hitler, “A nation heritage or culture is nurtured in the minds of a child.” He himself describes how he was rooted to his German roots even after being born in an non-German state. Hitler describes that even in Austria( a country sharing border with Germany) he had various Teachers and guides who dedicated their entire lives saving the German nationalism in a foreign land without caring about the probable consequences. He describes how he learnt German language in his primary education even when his school or nation has strict principles of not teaching it. It was because of undaunted bravery of those people that a German culture survived in Austria and produced a gem of German Nationalist- Adolf Hitler.

Britishers too subdued Indians in a similar way as Austrians tried to subdue German nationalism but in German- Austrian context Austrians couldn’t but Britishers were able to do it because of little or no effort done by majority of we Indians in saving it. Ban on Shakuntala play for common Indians might be an smaller issue but the big picture here to understand is “ to subdue nationalism in fellow countrymen you firstly need to keep them away from their heritages.”

Peace out until next good read!
